While wood burning is very different from other forms of artwork, in what ways is it similar? What medium(s) has similar issues to which you need to pay attention?
Wood burning is pretty different to work with. Kinda like painting in the sense it's a little harder to control where you leave marks than it is with something like a pencil. Even more like pen and ink. It's harder to go certain directions due to the natural wood grain like you can't do certain strokes because of the pen nib. It's also permanent(unless maybe you sanded it away) like ink is so, if you do make a mistake, you have to work around it and incorporate it into the artwork. It's challenging to get smooth shading and I think that's pretty unique to wood burning but the strokes/marks can probably be pretty comparable to paint or pen and ink.
