I. How do the skills of self-expression and creative problem solving that you use in creating art help you in other areas of your life?
A lot of skills we use in our daily lives can be applied to art. It makes sense that the way we do art changes or helps in our daily lives, too.
I get told I see things differently and that I tend to notice things that other people overlook. I think, or would like to think, it's what led to my method or 'organizing' things.
And, quite frankly, art is my life so the 'other areas of your life' is stumping me right now. . .
Maybe I'll come back to this. . .
II. How does the use of a theme help you design an artwork?
It helps narrow down your ideas and follow through with one/a few idea/ideas rather than have a mess of unrelated thoughts and symbols. It makes it easier to create something coherent rather than chaotic. Themes are one of the things that aide in planning out an art piece.
III. Critique your work. Tell me what was successful and what wasn't. What did you learn or practice with this project?
Using different paints wasn't the best idea. I can tell where I switched and it kinda bugs me, although it isn't something to glaring and noticeable, I suppose. It's a little plain, BG wise, but I don't think I could've added something else without taking away from the mask being the main focus.
I did try to use a limited color palette(Dark browns, black, blue, yellow, gold, and white) which I like the effect of it. I also like how the window reflections at the bottom turned out-that was experimental and I wasn't sure how well it'd turn out. So was the small section of sky behind the middle roof. I like that too.
